Last minute details before you register

The first Science Hack Day in Ljubljana is coming soon. Some of you might still be thinking whether to come or not so here are some more details.

Do not forget to register on http://shdljubljana2016.eventbrite.com before 11. October, so we can provide you enough food and snacks!

What kind of ideas can I have?

Actually anything connected with science. Here are some of the ideas from last year’s Science Hack Day San Francisco:

You are also welcome to come without an idea and try to find it with others on the event.

What will be available for me to use at the event?

Each participant needs to bring their own tools and materials to the event. Electricity access and Wi-Fi will be provided. You can connect with other participants on http://bit.ly/ideje16 and together gather all the necessities for your idea.

What is expected from me?

Make a working prototype of your idea in 24 hours. Make your own team, join another or circle around and have fun!

Announcing Science Hack Day Ljubljana

Science Hack Day is coming to Ljubljana!

What’s a hack day?
A hack day is an event that brings together various types of geeks in the same physical space for a brief but intense period of collaboration, hacking, and creating awesome things. A hack is a quick solution to a problem – maybe not the most elegant solution, but often the cleverest (e.g. mashing up APIs, datasets and web interfaces from different sources in new and interesting ways). A hack day is usually 48 hours long and involves a sleepover … although not much sleeping happens. Science Hack Day has a specific focus – science. Its mission is to get excited and make things with science, no prior experience needed!

Who is Science Hack Day for?
Science Hack Day is for anyone with an interest in bringing science and technology together (from dabbling with APIs/datasets/interface design to biotech experiments and prototyping near-space payloads). If you’re a coder, designer, scientist, hacker or just an enthusiastic person with good ideas, Science Hack Day is for you.

What can I actually do there?
Science Hack Day’s purpose is to get excited and make things with science. For some of you, this will be the first practical experience with science, others are already real scientists. Together, you can create web apps, board games, mini robots, simple sensors, smart clothes or do complex data analysis, basically anything you can make in 24 hours. In the following weeks, we will feature some of the best ideas from Science Hack Days all over the world. You can already find most of the ideas on the official wiki.

Give me the date already!
• When: October 15-16, 2016
• Where: Faculty of Electrical Engineering (Tržaška cesta 25, Ljubljana)
• How to register: stay tuned for details
• Updates: follow @SHDLjubljana, like us at Science Hack Day Ljubljana and/or subscribe to these updates
• URL: http://ljubljana.sciencehackday.org

Do you need any help?
Yes, we are still a very small team and every extra hand would help a lot! Don’t worry, there is a lot of work to be done before the event, so you can still participate, even if you are a part of the organising team. You can sponsor the event and help us make it fun and successful.

This is the first time Science Hack Day is taking place in Ljubljana. Share the event with your friends, colleagues, family and co-workers, so we can reach everyone that might be interested to attend.

There are of course a lot more details to be announced (sponsors, competition categories and prizes for best hacks, etc.), so stay tuned! Any questions, interested in helping, sponsoring or want to get in touch with us about Science Hack Day? Send emails to tadej@sciencehackday.org.
